Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
