Liverpool's Star Extends Statement to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
Jones has revealed that the Egyptian forward apologised to the team after the uproar from his televised remarks.
What Happened
Salah was left out from a key Champions League match following making accusations and suggesting his connection to the head coach had soured.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”
Arne Slot has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he was apologised to from the veteran striker.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.
He also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “It's clear there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Team Form
Liverpool's form have remained strong in the games following the situation. The player is convinced the outburst were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“In moments of frustration, the source has been from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, getting results and on a positive run.”
